Telling Tales is a unique festival held every year that is designed to transport its participants to a world before the existence of television and computers. Attendants will be brought back to a land where stories come alive! Through theatrical performances, poetry readings, storybook telling and so much more, children and their families will enhance their knowledge and passion for literacy and discover how much fun it really is!

Strengthening Libraries to Build a Stronger Community
Goals of Telling Tales
In a society where literacy frequently takes a back seat to technology, attempting to attract children and young adults away from an electronic screen to a book is often easier said than done. Telling Tales aspires to raise awareness of the importance of literacy and to show that reading and writing dont have to be boring. In support of literacy workshops and after-school programs, Telling Tales also raises funds that are donated to help these beneficial programs.
In hopes of opening its doors to the entire public, Telling Tales relies on donations from its sponsors to help under-privileged families get free transportation to and from the festival. The first year of the festival only permitted a few hundred families to get free transportation; however, Telling Tales hopes that as the festival gains support, more families will be able to attend this educational event.
For the long term, Telling Tales hopes to become a national, potentially international, event in the aspiration of spreading awareness and support of literacy throughout the world.
