The City of Hamilton has a great public library. The Library has a world class collection, its programs are innovative and leading edge, services are accessible and responsive with district and neighborhood branches and are conveniently located throughout the City.
Today, the Hamilton Public Library is one of Canada’s foremost library systems. The first public library in Hamilton was established in 1889. It has grown to include the Central Library, 3 District Libraries, 22 Neighborhood Branches, two Bookmobiles and Visiting Library Services. Through vision and strong community leadership, our library has become one of our community’s most treasured and valuable institutions.
